My friend Cory found this rock. I have never seen an agate with amethyst in the middle of it. I think it is an extraordinary find! He picked this gem up while we were fishing a tributary river of Lake Superior. The great flood of June 2012 must have washed this out from someplace unknown?

The saturation of the amethyst on this specimen is exceptional. I agree with Jay they are unusual, but not unheard of. I have found two in central MN. Great find!
