Fishing Sinker Bullet

Steve Redhead, 51, yanked his fishing rod when his line snagged in a tree — causing the 50g weight to snap back into his face.

He said: “If the weight had gone in anywhere else in my face then I could have died — I was incredibly lucky.

“I just remember catching a quick glimpse of the weight coming at me like a bullet — and then thinking it hurt a bit.” Cleaner Steve was treated in hospital in Dorchester, Dorset, after the accident as he fished for carp at a lake in nearby Osmington.

The weight was removed from his right cheek and he then went to a hospital in Poole to have 12 stitches.

Steve, of Weymouth, told the Angler’s Mail: “It won’t put me off — I will be back fishing on Sunday. I love the sport.”

Wolves kill moose in Minnesota too

Preliminary USFWS data indicates that 43 moose, including 25 cows, were killed by wolves in the north end of Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park during the winters of 2010 and 2011. Study data further shows another 13 were killed during 2012. “I don’t think anyone can argue that wolf depredation on moose is not additive and that they are not having an effect on moose numbers,” Wyoming Game and Fish large carnivore biologist Bob Trebelcock wrote in an email.

The same thing is happening in Minnesota, and the biologists are acting like the decline in our moose population is some kind of great mystery. If they weren’t so concerned with animal rights activists and PETA they might be more willing to admit what’s really going on.
